Crushers First Club to Tackle Recession Head On!
A team of enterprising friends and small business owners and operators came up with an idea last year that will change the face of fundraising here in Nambour. A little bit of initiative has created a system in a town in South East Queensland, which is on the verge of exploding Australia wide.
eFundraising Cards were accepted by the enterprising board members of Nambour Crushers Rugby League Club, initially to raise funds to support all the players on the teams. Inevitably it has created a support system that is going to help revitalise the town of Nambour, by supporting the principle of shopping local. With 500 cards, and growing, on issue through the club, Nambour Crushers now has the vehicle to support the club by using their member’s normal family expenditure to raise funds.
Brought to the town of Nambour by John Collins of the Nambour Christian College, the Crushers soon saw the potential of 500 members swiping their cards each week. Just 2 local purchases in the range of $30 to $50 will bring $52,000 a year of potential fundraising dollars for the crushers, not to mention a considerable increase of sales to local businesses.
5 families, each having their own issues with raising funds and providing funds to local organisations brought this exciting program together, creating a world first electronic fundraiser. They are hoping to create the vehicle to raise $25,000,000 a year to not for profit organisations in Australia. And it all started in Nambour!!
The Crushers are the first Club in Australia to start this program, with the Nambour Christian College the first School. They are still in the early days but have had great support from the local business community, and are looking forward to a long association with both Nambour and the Sunshine Coast to help all organisations create a viable future where no child misses out on playing their favourite sport due to lack of funds, and no organisation has to walk cap in hand to raise funds for worthwhile causes.
